The Apex Payroll Story

Apex Payroll was founded in Atlanta, GA by Chairman and CEO Stephen W. Gregg. Mr. Gregg saw the market need for a seamlessly integrated payroll and timekeeping solution utilizing advanced technology and established his payroll service and software business. In 1989, Mr. Gregg noticed the providers of payroll software and timekeeping devices were distinct entities, with the vast majority of timekeeping devices being mechanical time clocks. As a result, almost all time entries were hand keyed into payroll systems with virtually no automation, resulting in substantial inefficiencies and numerous errors. So he then built the industry's first fully integrated time clock in payroll systems utilizing industry standard architecture, eliminating user intervention and frustration. Over the next two decades, he continued to develop, keeping pace with advances in hardware capability, improvements in operating system technology and competitive changes in the industry landscape.
